A data engineer's primary responsibility is to design, build, and maintain data pipelines that support data ingestion, processing, and analysis. These pipelines are responsible for collecting, processing, and storing large volumes of data from various sources. Data engineers work with different data formats, such as structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data, and use various technologies to process and transform data

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams, data engineers work with data analysts to understand their data needs and develop data solutions that enable data-driven decision-making.
• Designing and implementing data storage solutions that meet the needs of the organization. Ensuring that the data is stored efficiently and securely.
• Developing and maintaining data pipelines that ensure the smooth flow of data between different systems and applications. This involves designing and implementing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, data validation, and data quality checks.
• Ensuring that the data infrastructure is secure, scalable, and reliable. This involves designing and implementing security measures to protect sensitive data, ensuring that the data pipelines can handle high volumes of data and backup solutions.
• Developing and maintaining documentation that describes the data architecture and data pipelines. This includes documenting the data sources, data stores, data processing workflows, and data transformation rules.
• Continuously improving data pipelines and infrastructure to ensure high performance and scalability.
• Stay up-to-date with new technologies and tools related to data engineering. Evaluate these technologies and tools and determine if they are useful for the organization.

Required Skills

• Experience with process and store large volumes of data.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Python and Java. Write efficient and scalable code.
• Experience with data modeling and database design.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. In particular, experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus.
• Understanding of data warehousing and ETL processes. Deep understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
• Experience with tools for monitoring and scheduling jobs, such as Airflow.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, or similar is plus.
• Having experience with container orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Data engineers should have a strong educational background in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• At least 1 years of experience in a similar role. Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining data systems and solutions.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, and responsible.
